After 23 months as assistant county attorney, Ryan Locker has moved on to a new job. He didn’t have to move far — just a few yards to the district attorney’s office, where he is now a felony prosecutor.
Locker’s first day as assistant district attorney was Friday, and Brown County commissioners approved his hiring Monday.District Attorney Micheal Murray selected Locker for the vacancy created by the resignation in May of Perry Sims.
“We’re excited about the addition of Ryan Locker as a new prosecutor in our office,” Murray said. Locker will work under the mentorship of Murray and First Assistant District Attorney Sam Moss, and will initially have assignments including working on asset forfeitures and seizures, legal research, appellate briefs, motions to revoke probation and motions to adjudicate, Murray said.
“I’m excited to make the move to felony, and I’m excited to be part of the team,” Locker said.Brown County Attorney Shane Britton hired Locker as assistant county attorney in March 2006.
Previously, Locker worked as an attorney for a Houston commercial litigation firm.Locker and his wife, Mandy, have one child. Locker is the son of Dan and Cynthia Locker of Brownwood.
